Finance Assistant [United Kingdom]


 

Fully woven into the DNA of M&S, our Finance team plays a key role in setting the pace for our key business decisions, shaping our budgets, analysing our sales, managing costs and making sure our most vital statistics and data are absolutely accurate.

With a focus on adding value to all business areas by helping them make data-driven decisions and understand what is driving commercial performance – it’s our job to make sure the right tools, processes, governance and ways of working are in place to support this.

You'll be accountable for processing Trade Services Documentary Collections & Payments processes, so building relationships and working collaboratively with both internal and external business partners groups at all levels and identifying and mitigating risk is key for this role.

Key accountabilities:

    Controlling Documentary Collection process ensuring suppliers are paid in a timely manner
  • Resolving and raising queries with suppliers, regional offices, and merchandisers
  • Ensuring suppliers submit their documents to enable goods to be released on arrival at the ports
  • Attending calls with our Bangladesh regional office, Logistics departments and shipping agents.

Key skills:

Financial Competence:

  • Knowledge and experience of the end to end Purchase to Pay process within a shared service environment

Reporting:

  • Drives and embeds innovative reporting solutions which deliver measurable improvements in business performance
  • Can analyse and interpret reporting from SAP

Systems, Processes & Controls:

  • Excel
  • Banking platforms
  • Implement the BSC Business Strategy model and plan to drive the business objective
  • Knowledge of SAP

Technical:

  • Implements and embeds role specific system improvements
  • Can operate within the relevant financial guidelines and legislation and understand risk to the business of non-compliance
